Nadal: Foot injury scare dates back to 2004

Rafael Nadal says the injury scare he had in his fourth-round win at Wimbledon over Juan Martin Del Potro dates back to 2004, when he suffered a stress fracture in his left ankle and was out for three months. Nadal had an MRI on his left foot Wednesday and discovered there was no real damage. He is using an anesthetic to dull the pain in his foot, which he says last for five hours. He said that when he injured his foot against del Potro, he thought back to 2004.

"I felt something similar, but I am lucky that is nothing like this," said Nadal, who added that his current injury in a different place. "For that reason I was really scared. But after when I did all the test and the test was positive for me, I am not scared because I know I have to try my best for the rest of the tournament. That's what I gonna do. And I'm ready to play."

Nadal beat Mardy Fish in the quarterfinals and will face Andy Murray in the semifinals. "I have pain on the foot. I cannot run in perfect conditions without [putting my foot to sleep]. It?s strange for me. [But with] the anesthetic, I don't feel nothing, I don't feel the pain."
